Gambling help, limits and a way to step back

If gambling is taking more money, time or sleep than you planned, free help is one call away. The NRGP helpline on 0800 006 008 is free and confidential, day and night, and Springbok itself can cap your deposits or close your account for a period you choose. Gambling is for adults only: 18+.

Who to contact

NRGP helpline
0800 006 008, free and confidential, 24 hours a day, every day. Counsellors offer assessment and referral to treatment.
NRGP on WhatsApp
076 675 0710. Send a message to ask for a counsellor.
Crisis support
SADAG's suicide crisis helpline, 0800 567 567, 24 hours. Call this first if you are thinking about harming yourself.
Online
responsiblegambling.org.za, run by the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF).

SARGF says its treatment costs nothing: after an assessment, people get a course of outpatient counselling sessions, and family members can be supported too. The NRGP's message is short: “Winners know when to stop”.

Springbok's own limits and self-exclusion

Springbok's responsible-gaming page describes two tools, both arranged by contacting its support team Verified ยท 9 Oct 2026 (opens Springbok's source page):

  • Deposit limits, set per day or per month.
  • Self-exclusion for a period you choose, at least one month long.

Ask through live chat or by email to help@springbokcasino.co.za. Note the date you asked and keep the reply, so there is a record if anything is unclear later.

Use your login as a brake

Most of this site is about keeping strangers out of your account. The same habits, turned around, can keep you out for a while when you want a break.

  • Delete the saved Springbok password from your browser while you are on a break, so every visit takes a deliberate step.
  • Remove the bookmark and any home-screen shortcut to the lobby.
  • Log out on every device, including old phones and shared tablets.
  • Ask support to stop promotional emails and inbox offers until you are ready.
  • Mute casino notifications and any group chats that share codes.

Warning signs worth taking seriously

  • Sign

    Chasing losses

Depositing again to win back money that is already gone.

  • Sign

Spending money meant for something else

Rent, food, school fees, transport or debt repayments.

  • Sign

    Playing longer than planned

Or hiding from people close to you how much time and money it takes.

  • Sign

Restless when you try to cut back

Feeling irritable or anxious on days you do not play.

  • Sign

Borrowing or selling to keep going

Loans, credit or selling belongings to fund another deposit.

  • Sign

    Logging in to escape

Playing to get away from stress, or late at night when sleep will not come.

If one of these sounds familiar, call 0800 006 008. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help.

Budget before you play

  1. Set the amount first

Decide what you can spend on entertainment this month after every bill, and treat it as spent the moment you deposit.

  2. Make Springbok hold you to it

Ask support for a monthly deposit limit at that amount, so the plan survives a bad night.

  3. Pick a stop time

Set a phone alarm. When it rings, log out, whatever the balance says.

  4. Never chase a loss

A loss is the price of the entertainment, not money the casino owes you back.

  5. Keep bonuses in proportion

Wagering rules mean playing through the bonus many times over. Never deposit more just to clear one.

Helping someone else

If a partner, parent or friend is struggling, the NRGP supports family members as well. Talk when things are calm, describe what you have noticed rather than blaming, and offer to call 0800 006 008 together. If children share your devices, log out after every session and keep casino passwords out of their reach: gambling is for over-18s only.
